Finding Life in a Dead World

Why I became a Christian

Direction

When my mom was pregnant with me, her and my dad decided that they wanted their children to grow up in the church, so while in her belly, they joined a Church.

I remember being a kid and being astounded about the beauty of the world. The birds. The trees. Life in and of itself. To be something so special had to be creatively designed.

Hope

Teen: This is when I began to see the more troubleing parts ot the world, as I got older and started to venture out of the bubble that my parents created for me.

I went on a missions trip to Jamaica and right when we were about to sing and do our skits, we lost all power.

Now sure it could of just beein coincidence. But too many things in my life have been coincidence.

Maybe its confirmation bias.

Maybe, I'm just that good and good things tend to happen when I pray.

Either way, being a Christian works for me. It helps me to be less selfish and more considerate of others. Learning about the life Jesus lived helps me to have perspective.

And in a world where there are so many different pathways, it gives me clear outlined steps towards a greater good.

Peace

Adult: As an adult, I began to count my blessings and I realized that although things don't always go as I've planned, I still have to actively learn to put my trust in God.

The more analytical side of me would say this:

  • Say there is no God, and at the end of your life, instead of going to Heaven, we all just cease to exist. Me, living as a Christian, would not negatively impact me in anyway. I've still been able to travel, invest, spend time with family and friends, and do things that I enjoy.

  • But say if there is a 1% chance that God is real. I would have lived my life to the fullest and lost it all at the very end. If there is a 1% chance that hell is real, is that really where I want to risk being.

I feel empowered by God

What's your story about how you came into the faith? Email it me at thelegacyqueen@gmail.com.

If you aren't saved, and want to become saved, Pray the Sinners Prayer below. I'm telling you, it can change both your life and your perspective on life. Once you pray the prayer, connecting with a good church can help you learn more about what it means to live a Godly life. It doesn't mean you have to be perfect. It's really all about trying to be a little better each and every day. Here are my favorite Pastors to listen to:

  • Podcast -- The Summit Life with JD Greear - You can also find him on the web here: https://jdgreear.com/broadcast/

    • I just like the way that he preaches. He incorporates story telling, anecdotes, and jokes into his messages, and it keeps me engaged.

  • Sunday Church Service - From the Heart Church Ministries Live Stream - https://fthcm.org/livestream/

    • This church is definitely more of a traditional church. I think the message (typically in the last hour) is so detailed and profound.

The Sinner's Prayer

  • Father I come to you in the name of Jesus, and I ask you to forgive me of my sins. Create in me a clean heart. I believe that Jesus died for my sins and was raised from the dead. I receive Him now into my heart and commit to living a Godly life. In Jesus name, Amen.

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried;

he descended to hell.

The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.

From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the unity of the faith, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
